These are the best CarPlay apps for iPhone. This doesn't seem to be happening under Apple Maps or Google Maps with CarPlay. When I was previously using it with Android Auto, a playing podcast would be paused when Google Maps would give me audio guidance. Had this happen with the watch app as well, where the display would lag what was playing in the iPhone - reinstalling helped but eventually it went back to the same problem on the watch. Pocket Casts 6.1 also includes new sorting options for iPad users. I recently started using Pocket Casts with CarPlay. It worked, lost a lot of app setting for custom podcast setups like add to up next and custom playback settings, but it seems to work with CarPlay right now. Not a bad way to listen to 9to5Mac’s Happy Hour podcast in the car. Prior to CarPlay support, the app was limited to a simple playback screen and not episode sorting. This means you can use Pocket Casts on your iPhone to manage your subscriptions and playback, then connect your iPhone to your car and continue controlling the experience from your car’s screen. A few weeks ago Shifty Jelly updated its Pocket Casts podcast player for iPhone to version 6.0 with a major overhaul including a new dark mode, playback features, and multitasking, and now Pocket Casts 6.1 is out with support for Apple’s CarPlay infotainment feature.
